Ernst Löschner, initiator of the Alpine Peace Crossing memorial association, died unexpectedly last week. The lawyer and economist was 81 years old. Löschner became known to the public primarily because of his association: The initiative, founded in 2007, commemorates the thousands of Jews who fled across the Alps in Salzburg towards Palestine in 1947.
