How was the controversial move with Léo Jardim?

In the 17th minute, Everaldo was thrown at the edge of Vasco’s area, Léo Jardim left the penalty area and knocked the attacker down with a crash. Referee Raphael Claus punished Vasco’s goalkeeper with a yellow card, but Fluminense players asked for a red card. The referee argued that it was not an expulsion because Everaldo was running diagonally and not towards the goal.

Following the play, after the free kick, Thiago Silva adjusted and Serna hit low, into Léo Jardim’s corner to open the scoring.
