Extra virgin olive oil will be half price in these supermarkets: find out which ones

Experts warn: you shouldn't buy olive oil in the supermarket if you see this on the label and these are the reasons

Between December 15th and 21st, olive oil will drop in price on Lidl’s shelves: the chain’s leaflet announces cuts of up to 65% compared to the recommended price, with several 750 ml bottles remaining below half the usual price, including brands such as Oliveira da Serra, Gallo and Condesável.

Campaign runs from Monday to Sunday

The campaign in question is valid from Monday, December 15th, to Sunday, December 21st, according to the promotional leaflet. The visual highlight is clear: “No. 1 in price, according to consumers” and “up to -65%”, highlighting that this is a decline in a category that has weighed heavily on family budgets.

All references on sale are 750 ml packs, indicating the price per liter and the RRP recommended by the manufacturer, which allows you to quickly understand the size of the discount. In all cases, the expressions “for a limited time” and the value of the percentage reduction also appear, which in several bottles leaves the olive oil clearly below half the usual price.

At the top of the page, Oliveira da Serra Extra Virgin olive oil appears as one of the “faces” of the campaign. The 750 ml bottle is advertised at -65% compared to the recommended RRP, appearing in the image with a price of 4.69 euros and reference to a list price of 8.49 euros.

The page itself reinforces the idea that these drops are exceptional, by using the “Consumer Choice 2025” seal and by concentrating several recognized brands in a single table. For many consumers, combining the seal of trust with the price cut can be important to meet Christmas needs.

Another highlight goes to Gallo Gourmet Extra Virgin Olive Oil (750 ml), which appears with a 50% discount compared to the recommended RRP. The reference price is 11.99 euros and, during the campaign, it drops to 5.99 euros, which puts this premium variety at less than half the usual price.

In the same line of reductions, other Gallo references appear. Gallo Delicate Virgin Olive Oil (750 ml) is advertised at 4.69 euros, with a 44% cut on a recommended RRP of 8.49 euros. Gallo Azeite Subtil is presented at the same price of 4.69 euros, indicating -41% compared to a reference value of 7.99 euros. In both cases, the message is identical: olive oil from a well-known brand at a price that, in practice, is lower than usual.

Condesável and Gallo Reserva are also included in the discounts

Those who prefer another brand will also find Condesável Azeite (750 ml) with a promotion. The leaflet points to a 41% discount on the recommended RRP of 7.89 euros, bringing the price down to 4.59 euros.

In the highest segment, Gallo Extra Virgin Olive Oil Reserve comes with a 36% discount: the recommended price is 10.99 euros and the campaign sets it at 6.99 euros for the 750 ml package. Even though it is not half the price, it remains a relevant reduction in a variety usually positioned in the upper range.

Gallo Classic Extra Virgin Olive Oil appears at 6.49 euros, with an indication of -35% compared to the RRP of 9.99 euros, offering another alternative within the same brand for those looking for a more traditional flavor profile.

At the foot of the page, Lidl reminds you that prices are valid from 15/12 and that the promotions highlighted run from 15/12 to 21/12, and are limited to existing stock. The brand also warns that promotions cannot be combined with each other and that it reserves the right to limit the quantity of promotional products to be purchased by each customer.

The leaflet also adds that some items, prices and promotions may not be available in all stores, so it is advisable to confirm the offer at your usual location or on the chain’s app before making plans for large quantities.

Temporary relief in a category that has been heavy on the wallet

After successive increases in the price of olive oil in recent years, with a visible impact on shopping carts and family accounts, campaigns like this act as relief before the festive season. The possibility of purchasing 750 ml bottles of well-known brands for between 4.59 and 4.69 euros, and, in some cases, with announced discounts of 50% or more, can lead many consumers to reinforce their pantry for the winter.
