A speech by the president (PT) read this Friday (8) by the general director of , Andrei Rodrigues, about “fraud that began in the previous government, and which only now, in our government, have started to be investigated”.
The president’s speech — which reinforces the rhetoric in an election year that the government fights corruption and criticizes the administration of the former president (PL) — was presented to an audience of police officers at a graduation event for new agents, at the National Police Academy, in Brasília.
Andrei said that Lula was unable to attend the event, but that he asked him to read the text he had prepared for the graduates.
The speech exalts the current situation of the PF in contrast to that of the previous administration. He says, for example, that “the time of interference in PF operations, of changing superintendents and delegates to shield family members and allies, is in the past.”
The , which investigates the insertion of the PCC (Primeiro Comando da Capital) in the formal economy, is mentioned as an operation against people who are “in some of the most noble addresses in Brazil and abroad and no longer have the immunity they had before our government”.
“For the first time, the fight against factions reached the top floor, proving that organized crime tycoons are not in peripheral communities”, says the president’s speech.
According to Lula, “the Federal Police and Brazil as a whole have suffered a severe setback since the coup against President Dilma Rousseff”, with “a long period of setbacks and more setbacks”.
“When we returned to the Presidency, we began the reconstruction of Brazil. Public security was once again treated as a priority.”
Lula’s speech about Banco Master highlighted the 5th phase of Operation Compliance Zero, which was launched this Thursday (7) and had as its main target the senator, president of and former minister of Bolsonaro.
In addition to Andrei, the Minister of Justice, Wellington Lima e Silva, also participated in the ceremony. Both were in Lula’s delegation during the visit to the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
Before him, retired STF (Supreme Federal Court) minister Ricardo Lewandowski also spoke at the event. In his speech, he said that the PF is a State institution, not a government institution.
At the ceremony, 642 students were trained for the position of Federal Police agent.
