“Don’t be offending me!” Liliana Campos apologizes after ‘controversial’ statement and leaves appeal

“Não me estejam a ofender!”. Liliana Campos pede desculpa após afirmação ‘polémica’ e deixa apelo

Liliana Campos started the ‘Red Carpet’ program this Wednesday, December 11th, with a clarification and an apology to the country’s Volunteer Firefighters and Sappers.

In last Monday’s broadcast (9), and when commentators spoke of one of Marco Paulo’s heirs, firefighter Eduardo Ferreira, Liliana Campos stated: “He is not a volunteer, he is a firefighter. He’s not fighting fires, he’s opening locks and those things that firefighters do.”.

The statement was not well received by some firefighters and also by the public and Liliana Campos received numerous unpleasant messages, as she said live: “Before we start the program, I want to talk about something that happened on Monday about a topic that I couldn’t explain and therefore… Above all, I want to apologize to anyone who felt offended, especially the firefighters, who They politely approached me to explain something that I actually know but that I was not explicit in my thoughts.”he began by saying.

“Let’s have a little more empathy”

After highlighting that she has “the greatest respect for the firefighters of this country”, Liliana Campos thanked the professionals in question, highlighting that during her life she needed a lot of the services of this class, which helped her in caring for family members.

“I was saying that not all firefighters are fire heroes, there are some who are and others who are not – unfortunately most of them are due to the fires that our country has – I was explaining what the firefighters did and, in addition to the obvious, which is putting out urban fires and other things, which also help us with simpler issues of urban life, such as changing locks (…). Therefore, I deeply apologize to anyone I offended, especially the Firefighters and now I ask you from the bottom of my heart, even with an open heart, I have the greatest respect and I was wrong in not knowing how to explain myself but we all have moments like that, don’t we? They keep offending me with horrible words on social media, I don’t know how to deal with it! There are people who are being very bad and very ordinary! They have written me the most horrible things to do with locks- and everyone knows those jokes- and so stop attacking other people just because we make a mistake!”she said, visibly uncomfortable.

“Don’t be verbally attacking me”

Liliana Campos appealed to empathy, highlighting that this is not the way to alert someone who has made a mistake: “I, by the way, even know the role of firefighters, but if I didn’t know, I would probably need to be taught, I wouldn’t need to be treated badly! (…) Let’s have a little more empathy (…) people make mistakes, I made mistakes but I don’t deserve that they are tearing me down now as if I were trying to denigrate a profession (…). Regarding the Firefighters, I apologize to anyone I offended but now don’t attack me verbally because I am aware of what I did, I didn’t know it was so serious because I never wanted to hurt anyone! My apologies!”.
