Chamber of Deputies approves four public security projects

Four bills aimed at public security were approved this Wednesday (11) in the Chamber of Deputies.

The votes are part of voting on proposals related to the topic until this Thursday (12).

Last week, the president of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), informed that deputies would hold “three days of voting on public security projects, combating organized crime and money laundering”.

All four projects were approved with changes See what they were:

  • PL 714/2023: makes it mandatory to order preventive detention at the custody hearing in cases of heinous crimes, theft, qualified criminal association and when criminal recidivism is suspected; The measure goes to the Senate.
  • PL 5845/2016: criminalizes the theft of optical and energy cables and telecommunications equipment; The measure goes to the Senate.
  • PL9433/2017: when they are no longer of interest to criminal prosecution, they will be donated for use by the Armed Forces and public security bodies; The measure goes to the Senate.
  • PL 3890/2020: establishes the Victim Statute; The measure goes to the Senate.
