Gerlan Alain Mota Lopes, 39 years old, was the victim of physical aggression by being hit with a lath on a public street on the night of this Wednesday (11), on Rua Mauá, in the João Eduardo I neighborhood, in the Baixada da Sobral region, in Rio White.
According to police information, Gerlan was cycling along Mauá Street when, unexpectedly, an unidentified man approached him and, in possession of a slat, struck him several times, which caused a superficial cut on the victim’s head and a bruise on his arm. Even though he was injured, Gerlan managed to get to his family’s house, on Carlos Santos Street, and asked for help. The perpetrator fled the scene.

The Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) was called, and an advanced support ambulance was sent. The rescuers provided the first care and took Gerlan to the Emergency Care Unit (UPA Franco Silva), in Baixada da Sobral, in a stable state of health.

Military police officers were at the scene, collected information and carried out patrols in the region. They managed to arrest the attacker, identified as José Fabrício, who was arrested and taken to the Flagrantes Police Station (Defla) for appropriate procedures.
The case will be investigated by the Civil Police.
