The Czech Republic was shaken by a terrible case. The mother had to throw her two small children from the bridge into the river and then jumped after them. The incident should have happened on Monday, December 9 in Český Meziříčí in Rychnovsk. The editors brought details of the case and witness statements.
Fortunately, there were enough witnesses on the scene who immediately alerted the rescue services. Police officers, paramedics and firefighters arrived in Český Meziříčí. The circumstances were not yet known at that time. “According to the notification we received shortly before 10 o’clock, three people should have fallen into the river,” said police spokeswoman Karolína Macháčková. The river into which the mother was supposed to throw her children is usually small, but after the rain it was full of icy water.
The mayor of Český Meziříčí was also a witness to the incident. “By pure chance I was looking out the window and I’m looking at a mother with her children standing on the bridge. She put the bag down to the girl, I thought she wanted to make her pee. I still thought to myself, it’s on the bridge, they might get hit by a car. The little boy ran around her and then disappeared behind some spruce,” revealed Milan Žďárek.
According to witnesses, it was not an unfortunate accident, but a premeditated act. “The woman came to the bridge, threw the boy there, threw the girl, and then jumped alone,” a witness described the chilling event. “She put down their backpacks, she grabbed their legs and threw them head down. She thought it through,” said the other.
“Then when you see a two-year-old child in shock, poor little thing. I thought she must have lost it. But then, when the girl was also falling, I thought that she probably didn’t fall,” said another of the witnesses.
As reported on , the case was taken over by criminal investigators and they accused her of attempted murder. “We are verifying the version that a 30-year-old woman of foreign nationality deliberately threw her two minor children over the railing on the bridge over the river Dedina. They subsequently fell from a height exceeding 4 meters into the water, which began to carry them away. The younger of the children hit the concrete bank when they fell. Their mother then jumped after them as well. All three people are hospitalized,” said the law enforcement officers. If proven guilty, the woman faces a prison sentence of 15 to 20 years or exceptional punishment.
