The incident occurred around 1:39 local time (17:39 Tuesday GMT), when a man identified as Wang, 30, was driving a small vehicle that ended up attacking three people who were crossing the street at the pedestrian crossing. The victims did not manage to survive their injuries despite the medical efforts made after the accident, according to a statement published this Friday by the town’s Department of Public Safety.
Toxicological analyzes carried out on the driver confirmed that he had consumed alcohol before getting behind the wheel, with a level of 25.1 milligrams of alcohol per 100 milliliters of blood. No signs were found that he was under the influence of narcotic substances. Wang is currently in police custody while the investigation is underway.
For now, authorities have classified the incident as a “traffic accident.” apparently ruling out the hypothesis of a planned attack.
