Those behind the deadly explosion have arrested three suspects, who are being held under restrictive conditions. They have only been allowed to speak to their lawyers and are expected to appear in court later this week, the BBC reported.
Authorities also said they seized several cars, hinting they are not ruling out further arrests of suspects.
As they emphasized, they received information about a car that was seen speeding away from the scene after the explosion.
Police do not yet know the cause of the blast, but the attorney general told reporters on Sunday that there were indications – which she did not elaborate – that it was a criminal act.
Gas network company Stedin told Dutch news agency ANP that it had no indication that the explosion was caused by a gas leak.
Rescuers recovered six bodies from the ruins of the collapsed building. Four people are still hospitalized, two of them in serious condition. Three people killed were members of the same family: a man and a woman aged 45 and 41 respectively, and their 17-year-old daughter. An eight-year-old boy is the only survivor of this family. The other three victims were men aged 31, 44 and 63.
Almost 600,000 euros were collected to help the victims of the explosion.
Rescuers called off the search for victims on Monday night, hours after a sixth body was found in the rubble.
