This Thursday (25th) of Christmas, the city of São Paulo can register the highest temperature ever observed in December. The forecast indicates that temperatures will surpass the record for the hottest day in December, which is currently 35.6ºC, recorded on December 3, 1998.
The mark could also surpass the record for the hottest day in 2025, which is currently 35.1°C, measured by Inmet (National Institute of Meteorology) in October this year.
The intense heat is the result of a new heat wave that marks the first week of summer.
An atmospheric blockage acts over part of the country, making it difficult for more organized rain systems to form and favoring the persistence of high temperatures, especially in the Center-South regions.
Even with this blockade, the occurrence of rain is not completely ruled out. Isolated thunderstorms can hit the capital of São Paulo, with the possibility of more intense episodes in specific points, accompanied by lightning, a typical scenario on hot and muggy days.
According to the CGE (Climate Emergency Management Center), the hot and humid air mass continues to act over the Southeast, maintaining temperatures above average. For this holiday (25), the forecast points to strong sun throughout the day e between late afternoon and the early evening.
