Palmeiras announced this Thursday (12) the termination of striker Dudu’s contract. The player still had a commitment to the club until the end of 2025, with the possibility of automatic renewal based on goals achieved, but the two parties decided to end the relationship amicably.
The athlete, who will turn 33 in January, has a plan to wear the Cruzeiro shirt. Ten years after his arrival, he said goodbye to the club from the west of São Paulo as an icon of an extremely victorious period, with titles piled up from state to continental level.
“Dudu will forever be remembered as one of the symbols of the winning era that we have experienced over the last few years. Thank you, Dudu, for the brilliant trajectory built with our shirt! You will always be part of the Palmeiras Family!”, published the club on its profiles on social media.
Other historical Palmeiras idols, such as Ademir da Guia, sent messages congratulating the athlete for his time in green and white, with 88 goals scored and 12 trophies lifted over 462 matches. This series took a hiatus between 2020 and 2021, during a year of loan to Al Duhail, from Qatar.
Dudu ended up with limited space in the team after agreeing a transfer to Cruzeiro in the middle of this year. Everything was fine between the player and the clubs, but he backed down after an appeal from the fans and remained. However, his relationship with president Leila Pereira and coach Abel Ferreira, who has only named him as a starter four times since then, cooled down considerably.
