They resemble Russian dumplings, but are much better. My family loves this recipe

Pierogi are a dish that gives you many opportunities to experiment. We can put basically anything into a tasty and elastic dough. A stuffing worth trying is a mixture of ingredients that somewhat resembles the stuffing for Russian dumplings, but has a more distinctive aroma. We show you how to prepare it.

The basis of this stuffing, as in the case of Russian stuffing, will be potatoes. However, before mixing them with other products, they must be prepared properly. First, we boil them, and then pass them through a press or crush them with a pestle. We leave them to cool and only then can we add the remaining ingredients.

In this case, however, it will not be cottage cheese like in Russian stuffing, but a different, more expressive product. We’re talking about smoked bacon cut into cubes and fried in a pan. Thanks to this, our stuffing will be much more aromatic.

Preparing dumplings stuffed with potatoes and bacon is not complicated. Just a few simple steps are enough to enjoy a delicious dinner for the whole family. To make it we will need the following ingredients for :

  • 500 g of wheat flour,
  • 1 cup of hot water,
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of oil.

To prepare the stuffing, we need to prepare:

  • 600 g potatoes,
  • 150 g smoked bacon,
  • 1 tablespoon of butter,
  • 1 onion
  • sun,
  • pepper
  • marjoram.

After preparing the potatoes according to the previous instructions, fry the diced bacon in a pan until the fat melts. Then add the chopped onion and fry together with the bacon until the vegetable is lightly browned and translucent. After cooling down, add both of these ingredients to the potatoes. We also add butter and mix everything. Season the stuffing with marjoram, salt and pepper as desired.

Then we prepare the dough. Pour the flour into a bowl and add salt. Pour in hot water and butter, mix everything with a spoon, and then knead with your hands until a soft and elastic dough is formed. Cover them with a cloth and set aside for about 25 minutes.

After this time, divide the dough into parts and roll each part thinly. We cut out circles from it using a glass. Place 1-2 teaspoons of stuffing in the center of each piece and seal the edges. Cook the dumplings in salted water for 2-3 minutes after they float to the surface.
