The Valais State Council has declared a state of emergency due to the fire that killed around 40 people at the Crans-Montana ski resort in Switzerland, a state councilor said.
“Given the seriousness of last night’s events, the State Council has decided to declare a state of emergency,” said Stéphane Ganzer during a press conference.
“This legal framework allows us to coordinate several large-scale measures and distribute them over time, as this situation is expected to continue for some time,” added Ganzer.
