A large part of captured President Nicolás Maduro’s security team was killed in the US raid that led to the leader’s capture on Saturday, Venezuelan Defense Minister General Vladimir Padrino said in a televised statement on Sunday morning.
Padrino did not give an exact number of victims. He supported Vice President Delcy Rodríguez’s declaration as interim president and said that the Armed Forces were activated throughout the country to guarantee sovereignty.
