The general went to the (PF) under suspicion of interfering in investigations into the coup plot in 2022. A four-star Army general, he was also a candidate for vice-president on the () ticket in the 2022 election.
The operation was authorized by the minister of the (Supreme Federal Court), who removed the confidentiality of the decision.
He states that the new testimony of Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, given in November, associated with documents obtained in the investigation indicates that Braga Netto “obtained and delivered the necessary resources” for the organization and execution of the plan to kill (PT), Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) and Moraes himself.
The general’s defense has not commented so far. In a previous statement, the military denied there was a plan for a coup or assassination of authorities.
Braga Netto arrested him at his home in Rio de Janeiro. Addresses linked to the general are also the target of searches and seizures. He has already been indicted for the coup plot.
The corporation is still carrying out searches against retired colonel Flávio Peregrino, Braga Netto’s main assistant since the Bolsonaro government. He was subject to a different prison sentence. .
