Consolidated data from the state’s State Department of Public Security on rates in 2025 show a drop in the number of intentional homicides for the third consecutive year.
Last year, there were 2,438 cases, 3.1% less than in 2024, when there were 2,517. Of these, 1,447 occurred in the interior, a reduction of 7.9% compared to 2024.
There was also a drop in the number of robberies, which recorded the lowest rate since 2001. The number of cases across the state fell from 166, in 2024, to 129, in 2025, or 22.2% less. In the capital, the drop reached 25%, from 52 to 39 cases.
Despite the good indicators, the state has recorded the highest number in history last year. There were 233 this year from January to November, the highest mark since the beginning of the historical series, in 2018.
There was also , driven by criminals’ interest in cell phones. There were 230.5 thousand occurrences in the period.
