O there will be, unlike the usual seven nights of the festival, an eighth day of celebration in this year’s edition. And the organization of the event has already confirmed the headliner for that day: Gilberto Gil, colossus of Brazilian music, historic singer, composer and instrumentalist.

The 83-year-old musician will perform on July 8 at the Hipódromo Manuel Possolo, in Cascais. Tickets are now on sale and cost between 38 and 66 euros.

“We are very pleased to announce an eighth night to the 2026 lineup. This year’s program reflects the essence of the festival and having the confirmation of one of the biggest names in Brazilian culture such as Gilberto Gil on the eighth night, makes this year even more special”, says the director of Live Experiences and promoter of Ageas Cooljazz, Karla Campos.

Gilberto Gil, owner of hits such as “Aquele Abraço”, “Domingo no Parque”, “Toda Menina Baiana” and “vamos Fugir”, is immortalized in Brazilian music and culture as one of the greatest symbols of the Tropicália movement, alongside names like Caetano Veloso and Gal Costa.

“Throughout his career, he was awarded both the Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards, nominated for Artist of Peace and Goodwill Ambassador by UNESCO, as well as Minister of Culture of Brazil in 2003”, recalls the Arraial agency.

Before the concert at Cooljazz, Gilberto Gil comes to Portugal for a show, in April, at the Coliseu do Porto.
