MPAC implements quotas for indigenous and trans people in new competitions and internships

The Public Ministry of the State of Acre (MPAC) made an important change to its hiring guidelines official with the aim of making the institution more inclusive and representative. Through Act No. 010/2026, signed by the Attorney General of Justice, Patrícia de Amorim Rêgo, the body established the reservation of vacancies for transgender and indigenous people in its future public competitions, selection processes and internship programs.

According to the attorney general, “the objective is to promote material equality and expand the access of historically vulnerable groups to opportunities within the institution”.

The new regulations establish that 5% of vacancies in competitions for permanent positions will be allocated to indigenous candidates and another 5% to transgender people.

The measure also extends to internship selections, maintaining a minimum percentage of 5% for each group, without giving up the academic requirements and technical performance expected for the students’ training. According to the text, candidates from these groups will compete simultaneously for reserved positions and those with broad competition, maintaining the criteria of merit and technical capacity for all participants.

Access to the quota system will be based on the candidate’s self-declaration, following the specific rules established in each notice.

To guarantee the integrity of the process, MPAC may carry out verification procedures, always ensuring the right to adversarial proceedings and full defense. Cases that are not provided for in the document will be analyzed and resolved by the Attorney General’s Office, based on the Federal Constitution, international treaties and decisions of higher courts.
