Brazilian police on Thursday arrested a man with alleged links to the Islamic State jihadist group on suspicion of planning a suicide bombing. TASR informs about it based on the AFP report.
According to the police, he planned to “make a vest with explosives intended to carry out a suicide terrorist attack on the territory of Brazil.” The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) also participated in the investigation.
Arrest in Sao Paulo
An anonymous source of the AFP agency said that the man was arrested in the state of Sao Paulo and that the authorities also suspect him of links to the Islamic State. Brazil has not yet been the target of a jihadist attack.
