Nenny released “Déjà vu” in collaboration with Bispo, the first single from his debut album, which will be released this year. Rodrigo Leão takes “O Rapaz da Montanha” to the Porto Coliseu, on February 8th. The musicians were guests of the Poster.
Nenny, an artist from Vialonga of Cape Verdean descent, promises an album with many collaborations, including that of a “legend of Cape Verdean music”, without saying who it is.
The artist made her debut in music with Sushi”, at the age of 16, an immediate success, followed by others, which led her to perform on Tiny Desk and Colors Show, platforms that helped promote the rapper’s music.
Today, aged 23, he says that the album will have “many surprises and people will get to know a different and more mature Nenny”. He adds that the album “reflects on being afraid but courage being stronger than fear”.
The single “Sdds”, which she released last year, will also be part of the artist’s album, which released the EP “Aura”, in 2019.
Rodrigo Leão was also at Cartaz to talk about the latest album. “O Rapaz da Montanha” was published on April 25, 2025 and prepared on the 50th anniversary of Freedom. It reflects the influence of the music he heard as a teenager, from the 70s and from composers such as Zeca Afonso and José Mário Branco.
By coincidence, it will be presented live, at the Coliseu do Porto on February 8th, the day of the second round of the presidential elections.
Most of the album’s lyrics are written by his wife, Ana Carolina Costa, and also include collaborations with his children. The composer says that “the family environment is very important for the work” he has done. There are several guests, including friends and colleagues from Sétima Legião, Gabriel Gomes and Pedro Oliveira
