Childhood cancer is one of the most serious diseases in children. Every year, more than 300,000 children around the world get sick from it, in Slovakia it is about 200 cases a year. The level of treatment in our country is at the level of the most advanced countries in the world, and the success rate of treatment exceeds 80 percent. The most common diagnoses are leukemia, brain tumors, lymphomas or other solid tumors, such as neuroblastoma or Wilms tumor. Early diagnosis today gives child patients a high chance of a full recovery – while in the past the probability of a cure was only about three percent, modern medicine has increased it to the current level.
