Legendary singer and musician Vašo Patejdl († 68) left us forever on Saturday, August 19, 2023. The artist succumbed to pancreatic cancerwhile he learned the cruel diagnosis only two weeks before his death. However, according to information from the Czech portal, his widow found herself in the middle of two lawsuits after his departure.
The deceased musician had two adult sons Václav and Róbert from his first marriage with his partner Alena. According to the Czech daily, it was they who decided to attack the father last will. In the lawsuit, they question its validity and claim that at the time when the father wrote it, he was no longer fully capable of legal actions due to his health.
During the second marriage with Miluša, their son Benjamin was born. They were overjoyed at the arrival of the child, as only artificial insemination helped them to have the son they wanted. After the death of her beloved man, she decided to take an important step. “When my husband died, following the example of Ivana Gottová, I registered a trademark in the name Vašo Patejdl,” admitted.
The widow thus found herself in a complicated situation. He faces disputes not only with the sons of the deceased musician, but also with members of the legendary group Elánwhich Patejdl co-founded and of which he was an integral part. “Elán doesn’t like it at all. Despite the fact that the trademark exists, I haven’t received a penny from Elán yet. They do what they want,” she complained.
The Elánists honored the memory of their colleague and friend with a spectacular memorial concert called Pre Vaša. The event took place on October 1, 2025 in Prague’s O2 arena. “I didn’t get a single crown, but most of the songs were written by Vašo,” she emphasized. She decided to take legal action since, according to her, none of the band members asked her for permission to use Patejdl’s name. “I don’t want the money for myself, but for our son Ben. We wanted him to study abroad, but I really don’t have the money.” she explained.
According to her statements, the remaining members of the group refuse to pay shares. The situation should have gone so far that they prefer to leave out the songs written by her late husband at their performances. “Fans who are bothered by this are already speaking. They won’t allow themselves to miss the song Voda, what keeps me afloat. They play it, the audience wouldn’t forgive them.” Miluše added.
