Juan Santos began his career at São Paulo in 2019, quickly standing out in Cotia’s youth ranks due to his offensive versatility. A speed striker with good presence in the box, he made his professional debut at a young age and has played more than 80 games for the club, being an important part of the squad that won the 2023 Copa do Brasil.
São Paulo sold the player in 2024 and now, they can reap new rewards from this transfer, as Lille is keeping an eye on Juan, according to ‘GetFootball’. But how much can Tricolor receive for the possible sale of him, who currently plays for Goztepe? THE Sporting News show.

How much can São Paulo receive?
If this proposal from Lille of 15 million euros (approximately R$96 million at current prices) for striker Juan Santos comes to fruition, São Paulo will have significant revenue, even without having the player in the squad.
As the club was strategic in negotiating the athlete’s early departure to the Southampton group in 2024, Tricolor not only received immediate compensation at the time, but also guaranteed a generous slice of future profits through contractual clauses that can now be triggered.
The amount that would enter Morumbis’ coffers would be divided into two main fronts. The first, and most profitable, is the surplus value clause. At the time of the sale, São Paulo kept around 20% of the profit on a future transfer. Considering that it sold for 900 thousand euros and can now be sold for 15 million, the profit from the transaction is 14.1 million euros; of this amount, Tricolor would be entitled to around 2.82 million euros.
The second front is the FIFA Solidarity Mechanism, which rewards the training club. As Juan spent his entire base in Cotia, São Paulo is entitled to around 5% of the total sale value, which would add another 750 thousand euros to the bill.
Adding these two parts, São Paulo would pocket approximately 3.57 million euros. In values converted to the Brazilian reality of 2026, we are talking about something around R$23 million.
