During Brigido’s elimination speech on the third Paredão of BBB 26, on Tuesday night (3), presenter Tadeu Schmidt used references to the Netflix series “Bridgerton”.
Tadeu turned to the universe of the period series to reinforce the message. Quoting Lady Whistledown, from the Bridgerton universe, the presenter said:
“Brigido has his reason, Ana Paula has hers and Boneco too. But only one of them is a reason to eliminate this person now. And then we need to recognize: in the words of Lady Whistledown: ‘pretending that nothing is wrong is the perfect way to convince the ignorant to be submissive'”, said the presenter.
The phrase served as a hook to direct the speech directly to Brigido who, according to Tadeu, the elimination was a direct consequence of the stance adopted by the participant inside the house.
“The responsibility for elimination lies exclusively with you, a direct result of the way you decided to live in this house”, he stated, before adding that the Brigido presented to the public at the beginning of the program was different from the one seen in recent weeks.
“You thought you were doing really well, but you weren’t,” said the presenter, when evaluating the trajectory.
Tadeu ended his speech with another metaphor that dialogues with the Bridgerton universe.
“We have yet to find out who this season’s diamond is, but that person is certainly not you: Brigido,” said the presenter.
The expression “diamond of the season”, used by Tadeu in his elimination speech, refers to the most coveted young woman of the season in the period in which the series takes place.
Participant Milena understood the presenter’s reference. In a conversation with Ana Paula Renault after the elimination, she explained what the term mentioned by Tadeu meant.
Netflix’s official profile also took advantage of the moment to joke about the situation. In a post on the social network X, the streaming service stated that “Bridgerton is out, Yes!”, in reference to the fact that the series is already available in the catalogue.
