The government launched a campaign asking the population to save water, given the water crisis in the state.
In video and advertising pieces, the management (Republicans) says that the state is experiencing the biggest drought in the last ten years and lists measures it has taken to improve water security.
Even so, the reservoirs are at low levels, comparable to those in 2014, when there was rationing.
For now, the state management says that there is no forecast of a water shortage, but it has needed to take measures such as increasing the nighttime pressure reduction time in the pipes, which has led to taps running dry in some higher and more peripheral regions.
The motto of the state campaign is “Drop by drop. More than ever”. The video mentions R$25 billion in investments in the water system, in addition to improvements in monitoring and inspection technology. But the piece says that the intense rains at this time of year are not directly affecting the reservoir regions.
As the Panel showed, the São Paulo government wants to save more water, unlike in past crises.
For now, the focus is on trying to raise awareness among the population about rational consumption. Among the requests are reducing shower time, turning off the tap when brushing teeth or washing dishes and avoiding the use of a hose when cleaning external areas.
The campaign was launched on open and closed TV, radio, digital media and OOH (out of home). New actions are expected in the coming months, such as advertising at train and subway stations.
