The Electoral Court ordered the revocation of the mandate of seven of the nine councilors of Francisco Alves, in the northwest of Paraná, after concluding that there was an abuse of economic power in the 2024 municipal election.
The decision accepted an electoral judicial investigation action presented by the Public Ministry of Paraná (MPPR) and affects the majority of the composition of the City Council.
According to the ruling, parliamentarians participated in a vote-buying scheme that involved distributing fuel vouchers to voters in exchange for political support. The practice was classified as a serious infraction as it compromised the fairness of the electoral process and equal conditions between candidates.

During the investigations, the Court authorized search and seizure warrants carried out on the eve of the election. During investigations carried out, mainly at a gas station in the region, vouchers and supply invoices were collected which, according to the MP, indicated use of the benefit for electoral purposes.
In addition to the material seized, the process gathered witness statements and other elements considered sufficient to prove the illicit scheme. Based on this set of evidence, the Court ordered the revocation of the diplomas and the immediate loss of the mandates of the seven councilors.
The decision also declared the ineligibility of those convicted for eight years, counting from the 2024 elections. Despite the measure, parliamentarians can still appeal to the higher instances of the Electoral Court, which can suspend the effects of the sentence until the final judgment.
