At least seven people were killed and eight others were injured in Russian attacks on the city of Druzhkivka in eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian officials said on Wednesday. TASR writes about it according to the report of the DPA agency.
The governor of the Donetsk region, Vadym Filashkin, confirmed the news of the victims in a post on the Telegram social network, adding that the marketplace in the city was hit by cluster munitions. The Russian military also dropped two bombs on the industrial area of the city and damaged several buildings, he added.
Filaškin urged residents to move to safer areas. It is estimated that from the pre-war population of 54,000, only approximately 19,000 residents remained in the city. The front line is only about 15 kilometers away from the city. In the Donetsk region, the Russian army controls roughly 80 percent of the territory, while the neighboring Luhansk region has been conquered almost entirely.
