Seguro explains how bad weather can affect democracy

António José Seguro considers that the State “has to be more efficient” in the support given to people affected by Storm Kristin, because, if it does not respond “when they need it most”, they will “not trust democracy”.

If the State does not help people, they stop believing in democracy. This is the thesis defended by the presidential candidate, António José Seguro.

The State has to be more efficient“, he said, at a dinner with supporters in Guia, in Albufeira (district of Faro).

The candidate spoke about Storm Kristindrawing the attention of “public authorities and the Government that it is necessary to quickly take care of families and companies”, considering that the Government’s support “goes in the right direction”, but “they need to reach people when they need them most”.

“They need to reach the companies so that they can continue working, working, not losing orders and being able to pay salaries”, insisted Seguro, who at a lunch in Castro Verde (Beja district) had already admitted fear that the bureaucracy and ineffectiveness of the State delay the arrival of support to affected people and companies.

“I fear that the traditional bureaucracy, some inoperability of State structures will make it difficult or cause delays in the arrival of this support to people. And it is at this moment that people need this support and they need this urgency. It is not later”stressed the candidate.

In the Algarve, the candidate again positioned himself as loyal to the current Constitution, which “represents and expresses the vision of a country that wants to progress and leaves no one behind”, which is “which is why the Social State is important to guarantee health for all, education for all, social protection for all”.
