The 18-year-old girl who accuses the minister of the (Superior Court of Justice) Marco Buzzi of sexual harassment gave a new statement to the (National Council of Justice) this Thursday (5) and reinforced that the case against her during the January holidays on a beach in (SC).
According to the Sheetthe complainant gave a detailed account of the episode on video. The hearing was led by an advisory judge and had the participation, remotely, of the national inspector of justice, Mauro Campbell.
Marco Buzzi, 68, is on leave from court for health reasons and denies the accusations.
The minister was admitted to the DF Star, in Brasília, this Thursday, with a case of palpitations and precordialgia (chest pain). The health unit reported, in a note, that the medical team opted for hospitalization “for investigation and control of symptoms”.
The minister’s team also stated that Buzzi felt “strong discomfort” on Wednesday night, the date on which the CNJ confirmed the investigation of the case against him. The judge will have a 10-day sick leave, which can be renewed.
“In the last five years, the minister has had five stents installed in his heart [usados para evitar a obstrução de artérias] and a pacemaker. This is a health condition that requires increased medical attention, especially in situations of strong tension”, says the statement.
On Wednesday night (4), the STJ investigated the accusation of sexual harassment against Buzzi.
The administrative process is expected to be completed within 30 days. After that, the plenary will decide on the possible compulsory retirement of the minister — this is the most serious punishment for a magistrate.
In a statement, Marco Buzzi stated that “he was surprised by the content of the insinuations published by a website, which do not correspond to the facts.” He also said that he repudiates “any and all conclusions that he committed an improper act.”
The victim is the daughter of friends of the magistrate, and her mother is a lawyer. The family was staying at his beach house.
One day before the complaint became public, on Tuesday (3), Buzzi participated in one of the Fourth Panel of the STJ, which includes ministers Raul Araújo, Isabel Gallotti, Antonio Carlos Ferreira and João Otávio de Noronha.
At the (Supreme Federal Court), a criminal investigation relating to the case is being processed, under the report of the minister. In addition to the sentence, the court may decide to retire Buzzi.
