Iran’s Revolutionary Guards announced the seizure of two vehicles, which, according to authorities, were carrying over one million liters of “contraband fuel”. According to the relevant announcements, a total of 15 foreigners who were the crew on the ships were referred to Justice.
As reported by the Tansim news agency citing Revolutionary Guards officials: “The boats have been smuggling fuel for the past few months and were detected and seized through surveillance, interception and intelligence investigation by the men of the Revolutionary Guards Navy.”
The move comes as Tehran prepares to hold talks with the US over its nuclear programme, amid particularly tense relations given the deployment of massive US forces in the region.
