The actor Christian Bale52, revealed that he screamed “like crazy” during the long makeup sessions on the set of “The Bride!”new retelling of the classic “The Bride of Frankenstein”.
In the film, directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, the star plays the monster, known as Frank. The artist explained that there were days when he spent up to six hours sitting in a chair preparing for the role, and that screaming became an outlet to relieve accumulated emotions.
“I screamed like crazy every day. Just to release the despair, all that restraint you have to have when you sit still for so long,” he told Entertainment Weekly magazine.
The actor said he avoided shouting on the way to work or alone. “I didn’t want to do it while driving, because I thought it might cause an accident. And I also didn’t want to do it alone, because I thought everyone would think I was going crazy,” he added.
Over time, the hair and makeup team began to participate in the collective screams, and Christian joked that the experience brought the professionals on set together.
“In the end, the whole team was involved, and people heard us screaming. We opened the doors and, little by little, a bit like the revolution in history, some people asked: ‘Can we do this too?’ And, at the end, there were about 30 people who heard us and ran to the makeup trailer to scream too,” he revealed.
“The Bride” should hit theaters in March this year. The plot is set in Chicago in the 1930s, when pioneering scientist Dr. Euphronious brings a murdered young woman back to life to be a companion for Frankenstein’s monster.
In addition to Bale, names like (“American Beauty”), (“Brokeback Mountain”), (“Hamnet’) and (“Pirates of the Caribbean”) are in the cast.
