Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), removed the confidentiality, this Friday (6), of the medical report produced by the Federal Police (PF) on the health of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). According to the doctors who carried out the clinical examination on the subject, none of the complications require hospital care so far, but must be closely monitored by a medical team.

Bolsonaro’s health complications:

  • High blood pressure;
  • Obesity;
  • Sleep apnea;
  • Clogged arteries;
  • Reflux;
  • Skin damage caused by the sun;
  • Internal scars in the abdominal region.

The exam also denies more serious diagnoses suggested by defense attending physicians. The PF says it found no evidence of bacterial pneumonia, iron deficiency anemia, depression or sarcopenia (loss of muscle mass).

In an interview with the former president about conditions in “Papudinha”, the report clarified how he is feeling. “Regarding the custody environment, Jair Bolsonaro reports improvement compared to the previous location, highlighting greater space for circulation. He stated that he was not bothered by noise, despite the unit being under construction, considering the cleanliness of the environment to be satisfactory, which he also helps with maintenance,” the document states.

Bolsoanro also stated in his statement that receives family visits and also a physiotherapist once a week, in addition to medical visits to monitor illnesses.

Completion of the medical report

On January 15, the former president’s defense called for a change of regime to house arrest for Bolsonaro. On that occasion, the minister Alexandre de Moraes assessed that it would analyze the new request, however, to make a decision and which determined the maximum period of 10 days for the production of the document.

On Wednesday (4), the former president’s defense once again requested house arrest claiming worsening in the health framework. “It got worse in the last few days, with the emergence of emetic episodes and a severe hiccup,” he stated in the application.

In the same application, they informed that three doctors from the Technical-Scientific Directorate of the Federal Police had already visited the former president on January 20th and therefore demanded a response from the Federal Supreme Court (STF). “Proceed, with the utmost urgency, to attach the expert report to the case file, in order to enable the presentation of an opinion by the defense technical assistant and, consequently, the analysis of the need to grant the humanitarian house arrest”, they requested at the beginning of the week.
