The vice-president of the Republic and minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, praised today (6) the determination of the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Flávio Dino in suspending the payment of the so-called “penduricalhos”, benefits that are granted to public servants and that do not meet the constitutional salary ceiling of R$ 46.3 thousand. The suspension applies to the Three Powers.
When speaking today (6) at the Union of Workers in the Civil Construction Industries of São Paulo (Sintracon), in the capital of São Paulo, Alckmin said he was “happy” when he opened the newspapers and came across this news, which he considered “important for the country”.
“Minister Flávio Dino said: ‘Let’s put an end to these super salary hoaxes’. This is paid with the worker’s money, from Mrs. Maria who lives in the favela, from the minimum wage worker. He is the one who pays through indirect taxes. Brazil is the champion of indirect taxes in the world. So, let’s honor these good measures that are important for our country”, he said, after speaking about mental illness at the union.
Opportunity with security!
Speaking to trade unionists at the end of his talk, Alckmin also praised democracy and Brazilian institutions. According to him, people can be more to the right or to the left, but what matters and what will differentiate them, in fact, is their appreciation for democracy. “What really differentiates is who has an appreciation for democracy and who doesn’t have an appreciation for democracy. That’s the big difference,” he said.
“People pass, institutions stay. If we look around the world, the countries that advanced the most, improved people’s lives and developed more, what made the difference were the good institutions, the organized civil society. It wasn’t the government”, he added.
