Pizza map of Poland
Poland has its pizza queen and it is Margherita. For years, it has dominated the ranking of the most frequently ordered pizzas on Pyszne.pl. Right behind it are the well-known classics: Pepperoni, Capricciosa, Salami, Diavola and Parma. Although you can put almost anything on a yeast dough cake, we like proven flavors.
Margherita rules almost the entire country, but some places stand out with local preferences. Zakopane chooses Capricciosa, Kielce chooses Salami, and in Białystok, half-and-half pizza reigns supreme – a diplomatic compromise in a cardboard box.
Poles value the classics the most, but sometimes they like to modify their pizza. Most often, we add mushrooms, corn, salami or ham to the pizza. And when it comes to sauces – no surprises: garlic remains number one in Poland. Pizza orders are often accompanied by a drink – Pyszne.pl users add it to every second order.
Pineapple? More often in memes than in orders
The internet loves arguing about pineapple on pizza. However, the data is ruthless: only about 3% of all orders contain this ingredient. Pizza with pineapple is most often eaten in Warsaw, and the least often in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. Application? Pineapple on pizza is more a topic for joking discussions, although of course there are its connoisseurs among us.
There are also those who like to go even harder against the current. Sweet pizza is only a small fraction of a percentage of all orders, but its fans are large enough to fill Torwar in Warsaw.
It’s tastier in a group
The popularity of offers such as “pizza for two” and the record number of orders on Valentine’s Day show that pizza is a dish we love to share – we order it for dates, meetings with friends, family evenings or for work.
The largest single pizza order in 2025 was placed in Warsaw and amounted to PLN 3,158. The annual record holders included employees from Kwidzyn, who ate a total of 1,114 pizzas. The next place was taken by a corporate client from Warsaw with 836 pizzas.
The pizza rhythm of Poles
When the clock strikes 6 p.m., Poland is getting hungry. It is in the evening that most pizza orders are placed. The busiest pizza season falls on Sunday, which confirms that this comforting delicacy has become a symbol of a delicious end to the week. We crave pizza the most in winter – that’s when there are the most orders. When the days are shorter and sometimes we don’t feel like cooking, pizza takes over the role of a classic comfort food: filling, familiar and perfect for an evening spent at home.
From Naples to Amsterdam
Pizza is a beloved dish of Europeans – it remains one of the pillars of food supplies almost on the entire continent. According to data from other markets of the Just Eat Takeaway.com group, in the homeland of this dish, Italy, almost 5 million kilograms of it were ordered in 2025 alone. In Germany, Margherita ranks second among the most frequently ordered dishes, and in the Netherlands it is the absolute number one – also during national holidays such as King’s Day. In the Netherlands, alongside the classics, hybrid interpretations are becoming more and more bold – e.g. pizzas combining an Italian base with Turkish ingredients, such as döner pizza. In Spain, pizza is also regularly at the top of regional rankings.
