According to the lawsuit, Sinval convinced church members that certain acts were part of a supposed “spiritual treatment”, presented as a necessary ritual to cure illnesses and “break curses”. Under this pretext, he carried out conduct considered abusive, fraudulent and criminal by the courts, in addition to demanding money from the faithful.
Among the reports gathered during the investigation, it appears that the pastor claimed that practices involving men from the congregation were essential for curing gastric problems. The Court understood that such acts constituted a serious violation of the dignity of the victims, with the use of fraud, psychological coercion and exploitation of faith.
