The City Council of Móstoles will hold an extraordinary plenary session to give explanations on the part of the mayor, Manuel Bautista, before the 2023 elections and after, and that the Popular Party of the Community of Madrid. The councilor was obliged to call it because more than a quarter of the councilors requested it; In fact, all the opposition parties – PSOE, Más Madrid, Vox and Podemos – collectively demanded the appearance last week, which will be held on February 24, Tuesday, at 10:00.
Since this newspaper and the treatment he received from the Madrid PP, which insisted that he report, and the national PP, which filed the file for harassment without citing the victim, Bautista has offered two almost identical press conferences, one on the day the information was made public and another 24 hours later. In both surrounded by the rest of the councilors of his party in which he remembers the one given by the mayor of Ponferrada, Ismael Álvarez, during the Nevenka case.
In both appearances, the mayor of Móstoles said practically the same thing: that the accusations are part of a political and media campaign of “discredit” and that they respond to revenge on the part of the former councilor for not having been granted the position of deputy mayor, which, according to Bautista, she asked for. Before the second press conference, between the councilor and the exedil:
Manuel Bautista: Have you asked me to be deputy mayor? No. You have never asked me directly.”
Councilor: “No, not to you or to anyone.”
After this conversation became known, Bautista changed her version and said that she had never asked him for that position, but that she had asked other members of the municipal corporation. In the audio, the councilor makes it clear that she never made such a request and the mayor did not respond to questions about these contradictions.
