An electric scooter is a great means of transportation and a perfect alternative to a bicycle. You avoid traffic jams and you can board public transport or a train with it. However, for this to actually happen, you need to know and follow the regulations, especially those regarding driving speed, putting on a helmet and riding alone. Why can a scooter be very dangerous?
First of all, many users significantly exceed the speed limit, use scooters with a power that is not allowed in Poland and do not wear helmets. Meanwhile, high speed with small wheels and instability is asking for an accident. All it takes is a slight bump in the road or a wet surface to cause a fall. You don’t even need another vehicle. Injuries, especially to the head, can be very serious and even fatal. By riding quickly on sidewalks and in crowded spaces, scooter riders endanger pedestrians. Especially when the driver is distracted by loud music in headphones or talking on a smartphone.
