The story of Mônica and Helena: two women, same identity

The story of Mônica and Helena: two women, same identity

Two months ago, SIC Investigation revealed the case of a Portuguese woman whose identity was stolen by another woman. The suspect moved to Portugal and even bought a house in the victim’s name. Even the children of one started to be registered in the name of the other. We return to this case to hear, for the first time, the real Mônica, a Portuguese woman who cannot leave Angola.

Mônica is Portuguese. He lived and studied in Portugal, but never worked outside Lisbon. She didn’t buy a house or have children.

But Mônica, who the State recognizes, did all of this. He had two children, bought an apartment, signed a work permit and renewed documents.

Authentic papers, with valid signatures and a name that does not belong to you.
