Russian attacks on Ukraine claimed at least six lives, with Odessa and the energy infrastructure mainly affected. More than ten thousand people were left without heat, electricity or water.
At least six people were killed overnight Friday in Russian attacks in Ukraine, which were aimed primarily at the southern port city of Odesa and Ukrainian energy infrastructure, authorities there announced Friday. TASR writes about it according to an AFP report.
Three men and one boy died on Thursday evening in the city of Kramatorsk in the east of the country. Ukraine’s human rights ombudsman said the victims included 19-year-old twins and their eight-year-old brother. “We are finding out the final consequences of Russian terror,” Olexandr Goncharenko, the head of the city’s military administration, wrote on social networks.
Attacks on infrastructure
A 48-year-old man was killed in a drone attack in the Zaporozhye region, which Russia considers part of its territory along with the Donetsk region, rescue services said.
The greatest damage was reported in the Odesa region, where, according to the authorities, one person was killed in an attack on the port infrastructure.
Power outages
Ukrainian energy company DTEK said the attack caused “extremely serious” damage to its power facilities in the area. “It will take a long time to repair the facilities and bring them back into working order,” the company said.
Swarms of drones and ballistic missiles launched by Moscow have left tens of thousands of people in and around the capital Kyiv and the cities of Dnipro and Odesa without heat, electricity or water.
