Minister André Mendonça, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), is expected to define Daniel Vorcaro’s fate this week. The owner of Banco Master is imprisoned in the Federal Police Superintendence prison in Brasília. As it rejected the defendant’s proposal for a plea bargain, the PF defends that he be transferred to a prison.
Mendonça asked for an opinion from the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) on the matter. The answer should arrive in the next few days. Paulo Gonet’s team is still evaluating whether to accept or reject Vorcaro’s second collaboration proposal.
Mendonça may choose to leave Vorcaro in the PF Superintendence until the PGR makes a decision on the accusation. Or, even, transfer the former banker to Papudinha, in the Papuda penitentiary complex, also in Brasília.
Vorcaro has been imprisoned since the beginning of March, on orders from Mendonça, after the PF indicated that the person being investigated used an armed militia to threaten opponents and was counting on a group of hackers to invade the IT systems of investigative bodies.
First, he was transferred from the maximum security federal prison to a special cell at the PF Superintendency, where he had free access for the defense to work on the plea bargain material. Now, the PF wants Vorcaro returned to prison.
