Nela Pocisková represents the song We racewhich was created in May last year. The impulse was a strong theme and the need to name a feeling that resonated in her longer. “I simply came up with a topic that I wanted to write lyrics about, and based on that emotion from the lyrics, Maxxo created music,” the singer approaches.
The song was recorded in his studio and was created by the three authors – Nela Pocisková, Maxx Miklos and Alexandra Sash Okálová. When the singer came to the studio, the producer and the musician Maxx Miklos he already had a draft of the music ready. Then together they completed the lines of the style and the chorus. “Maxxo had the chords ready when I came to the session, and when I listen, I always think of a theme that will arise from that music,” describes the process. In this case, the idea was clear immediately. “I felt that we live in a time where we are ahead of ourselves, who works more.” Sshe wrote the lyrics on the spot, the chorus was created at the next meeting, and Sash then fine-tuned some of the wording of the text.

A song as a reaction to the times in which we are chasing
The new Pretekáme names a phenomenon that has become almost a norm – glorification of workaholism and constant comparison. “I honestly feel that workaholism is celebrated today,” Nela says openly. According to her, people compete with each other, who can do more, who works longer, who achieves greater success. And this pressure can also be felt among colleagues from the industry. “Artists are also chasing each other – who is the bigger ‘GOAT’ and who sells out the stadium. We step on each other’s heels and forget the essence that music is made for love and that our value is not in what we can do in life.” admits Nela.
This link is the core of the song. The realization that success is not equal to a person’s value and that constantly proving one’s worth can lead to exhaustion and loss of joy in creation.

Stability in the midst of chaos
Nela also transferred the idea of the song into a visual form. It is under the responsibility of Pierre Lexis, while the theme was created together with the creative team of the singer – in addition to Lexis, it is complemented by Janka Šlebodová, who oversaw the production. “I came up with a point – to show me, stable in one place, and the accelerated city or events around me,” the singer explains.
The clip works with contrast – calm Nela and the world rushing around her at an accelerated pace. The character of little Nela, played by Danielka Holašová, is also a strong element. “She’s a wonderful, clever young girl who looks a lot like me,” says Nela. Danielka symbolizes the child version of the singer – a little girl who dreams of a big stage and sings out of pure joy. This motif is complemented by authentic archival footage from Nela’s childhood that has not appeared anywhere so far. “I wanted to add footage where I was actually singing everywhere as a child. I guess it was clear from an early age that this is what I want to do.”

Filming took place over two days – outdoors, on stage in the theater, backstage and in the studio. “I think everything I wanted is captured there. I’m happy,” Nela is happy. The video clip thus creates an image of a society that is constantly rushing somewhere, but at the same time it also reveals the other side of success – pressure, responsibility and internal competition with itself.

Nela Pocisková is currently finishing a studio album with Maxx Miklos, which will include a new song and which should be released soon. In addition, she has a big dance project and is planning concerts in the fall. In addition, fans can look forward to the next single in a month. “I’m working on new music and have other things lined up,” reveals the singer.
