They were part of the team Jessica Meir e Jack Hathawayan astronaut and Sophie Adenot and the cosmonaut of Roscosmos Andrey Fedyaev, thus representing the United States, France and Russia.
The four-member Crew-11 mission team was made up of NASA astronauts Zena Cardman and Mike Finckeby Japanese Yui Kimiyafrom the JAXA space agency, and by Russian cosmonaut Oleg Platonov.
It was the first time, em 25 years of history of the International Space Station (ISS) – since the arrival of the first crew in November 2000 – that a mission has been interrupted and the return of astronauts anticipated due to a medical incident in space. It was also the first medical evacuation in more than 65 years of NASA manned flights.
