Sabrina Sato did not go unnoticed when arriving at the Anhembi Sambadromein São Paulo in the early hours of this Sunday (15), before parading through Gaviões da Fiel. This year, the presenter wears a costume with colorful feathers, which represents the flowers of the forest. Before crossing the sambadrome, the Drum Queen said she was looking forward to the moment.
“I’m feeling butterflies in my stomach that I don’t think I can handle,” he said.
She also says: “It feels like I’m going to faint from so much emotion, but everything will be fine and it will be beautiful. Carnival for Gaviões will be historic. It will be a Carnival in which we are reclaiming our roots, we come with a lot of strength”, she assured.
Named “The Flower”, it serves as a symbolic representation of the living forest inside the Batuqueiros da Floresta battery. In an interview, she said that she has some tricks to avoid losing her outfit while walking along the avenue. “I have a lot of tricks and rituals. I cover my breasts with protectors. I use several protectors… on my shoulders too.”
This year, the group’s plot is “”, developed by carnival artists Rayner Pereira and Júlio Poloni. The parade promises to mark the history of São Paulo’s festivities.
According to the presentation text, the idea is to explore the struggle and defense of the forest and life. “With a political and poetic plot, guided by the wisdom of those who came before us, our song on the avenue will echo in the name of the memory and resistance of Brazil’s original peoples.”
In 2024, after taking its first Afro event to the Sambódromo, Gaviões took third place in the general classification, one tenth behind the champion, Rosas de Ouro.
