In the year in which the Minister of Culture, , returned to command the “Os Mascarados” block, in Bahia, the state government, led by the PT, more than tripled its sponsorship, transferring R$1 million. The amount was paid by the Tourism Promotion Superintendency, linked to state management.
The contract was made without bidding.
In previous years, the amount disbursed by the government to the block was R$300,000. The sponsor had been the state Gas Company.
In 2024 and 2025, the Minister of Culture participated in Carnival as an honored artist. This year, he resumed command of the block and regained leadership in this Thursday’s parade (12).
Created in 1999, the group “Os Mascarados” traditionally comes out on the Thursday before Carnival and brings together costumed revelers in a procession without ropes.
The Government of Bahia and the singer’s artistic advisors were contacted, but did not respond.
