Chelsea FC players have come under heavy criticism on social media after a video shows the team ignoring Hull City AFC’s child mascots ahead of their FA Cup game at the MKM Stadium.
In the images, it is possible to see the Blues athletes, led by Reece James, passing by the children without any greeting or interaction, while they waited in the visiting dressing room. The moment generated outrage online, with several criticisms of the players’ behavior.
One of the harshest reactions came from Michelle Dewberry, who accused the club of a lack of sensitivity, while other users considered the gesture disrespectful and unnecessary.
Despite the controversy off the field, on the pitch Chelsea won 4-0, with a hat-trick from Pedro Neto and a goal from Estêvão, guaranteeing their place in the next phase of the competition.
