At least one person and one suspect died on Monday afternoon (16) after a shooting during a student ice hockey game at Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. According to the local press, after a domestic argument, a man allegedly shot his wife and children. The wife would be one of the victims, but there is no confirmation of names. Three people were hospitalized.
A video of the shooting during the game’s live broadcast shows the match being interrupted by the sound of gunfire, apparently coming from somewhere in the stands. At least 14 gunshots can be heard consecutively, followed by one or two more gunshots about 10 seconds later. Players and participants ran to protect themselves from the gunfire.
An employee at a nearby pharmacy told Target 12 that people entered the pharmacy in a panic, saying there had been a shooting. The employee said he called 911 and closed the store.

Coventry Superintendent Don Cowart sent an email update to families at 3:31 p.m., saying all students in the school district “have been accounted for and are safe.” Plans to reunite families were still being developed, he said. “We will continue to share verified updates as the next steps are finalized,” Cowart wrote.
