While finishing the last adjustments to the costume before entering the Avenue, Juliana Paes talked to the CNN Brazil and revealed an affectionate memory he keeps from Carnival — long before the fame and spotlight.
According to the actress, among the many costumes she has worn throughout her life, one remains vivid in her memory: “Of all the costumes I’ve ever worn in my life, I remember one from childhood: Odalisque, made by my mother, who sewed and it was always very beautiful to see her sew and wear the costume at dances afterwards. It’s a childhood memory that left an impression on me.”
When talking about a plot that praises the drum master, Juliana highlighted the personal connection with the honoree. “Ciça is part of my story. I couldn’t stay out of this beautiful tribute.”
Unidos do Viradouro will have the commander of its own drum, Mestre Ciça, as the plot for the 2026 Carnival.
This will be the first time that the three-time champion of Rio Carnival will reference one of its strongholds. Ciça commanded from 1999 to 2009 and returned to the position he still holds today in 2019.
The announcement surprised the drum master, who still didn’t know that he had been chosen to be the school’s plot device.
