Diogo Almeida was present at the concentration of Unidos da Tijucain the early hours of this Tuesday (17), during the parades of the samba schools in Special Group from Rio de Janeiro. The actor and former BBB member celebrated the plot that pays homage to the writer and composer Carolina Maria de Jesus.
Back in Sapucaí after almost two decades, the artist highlighted the importance of the moment. “I’m so happy. I really wanted to be here. It’s a historic date. We’re going to honor a woman who is so important to our history”, he celebrated.
He completes. “One of the first black writers and who has such a powerful story, which serves as a reference for so many women and so many men. I’m really happy to be here. I paraded years ago, in 2007, and I’m returning now.”
The samba school paid tribute to the writer Carolina Maria de Jesus in . The title of the plot was the name of the honoree herself, considered one of the main voices in Brazilian literature.
Born in Sacramento, Minas Gerais, Carolina arrived in the capital of São Paulo in 1947, after traveling with her mother in search of work in the interior cities. In São Paulo, she settled in the Canindé favela, where she left daily to work as a paper collector.
” – Diary of a Favelada”, published in 1960, is among one of the writer’s best-known works, known for portraying in her works life in favelas and the challenges caused by social inequalities.
