Bad weather and low visibility did not allow the helicopter to be deployed at first. The mountain rescue team went to the site on foot, but access was complicated by unstable snow conditions. The man was eventually located successfully and transported to the hospital; however, despite resuscitation, he died.
According to the police, the avalanche started outside the secured ski area. “Due to the current avalanche situation, people are strongly urged to follow official avalanche reports, wear appropriate safety equipment and avoid steep, high-risk terrain,” the police said.
